Hello Friends! I’m Reese Lynn Scott, mostly known as Coach Reese, owner of Women’s World of Boxing in Harlem New York City, but I’m also a photographer who currently resides in The Bronx, N.Y.

I studied Graphic Design and Photography at duCrét School of Art & Design. It was there, my first time alone in sacred solitude where I felt the freedom of expression, the significance of time, and the importance of paying the closest attention to the finest details.

When I developed my first prints, the portraits spoke to me most. The eyes, the faces, the expressions were the story tellers. I discovered that my social anxiety and insecurities were muted by my desire to honor these stories through my lens.

After art school, I found success working as a creative director for a variety of magazine publishing houses in New York City. For almost 20 years, I designed hair, beauty, fitness, and travel magazines, and my photography practice was always a refuge to stay grounded and creative in the midst of the corporate grind.

In my off hours I trained to become an amateur boxer, and eventually began training other women. I left publishing when my boxing club got really successful, and eventually opened by own gym where I became the coach, social media manager, videographer, and of course photographer.

From the corporate cube, to training in the ring, to the slide of the shutter, I have learned that everything in this life is layered and connected. And through my lens, the search for that real and sometimes raw connection, to share my subject’s story, is what gives me life.

When I’m not taking pictures, I’m running my gym teaching people the sweet science of boxing, working on my memoir, or gallery hopping with my wife.
